The San Diego Civil War Round Table was established in 1986 and has faithfully provided a welcoming forum for hundreds of its members over the decades to gather, to speculate, to argue, and to appreciate first-class presentations on a wide variety of topics concerning the “late unpleasantness.”
Furthermore, its members have donated many thousands of dollars toward battlefield preservation.
As of January 2022, the San Diego Civil War Round Table suspended regular meetings and is no longer a fully active organization. However, we still possess tax-exempt status and formal recognition from the State of California in hopes of a resurgence in the future.
We are continuing to offer periodic free lectures on Civil War topics! All are welcome. The next one is scheduled for November 17th at 3pm in the Mission Valley Library where UCSD History Professor and Author, Rebecca Jo Plant will discuss underaged soldiers in the Civil War. For more info, see our meeting notice.
