Welcome to the
San Diego
Civil War Round Table

The San Diego Civil War Round Table was established in 1986 and has faithfully provided a welcoming forum for hundreds of its members over the decades to gather, to speculate, to argue, and to appreciate first-class presentations on a wide variety of topics concerning the “late unpleasantness.”
Furthermore, its members have donated many thousands of dollars toward battlefield preservation.
The Dave Tooley Prize: We are sponsoring a special essay contest in honor of life-long civil war enthusiast and our former president, Dave Tooley. To encourage young historians to study the Civil War’s causes, history and effects, our group has raised $1000 to establish a college-level research essay contest in association with Dr. Edward Blum and the History Department of San Diego State University. Read more about our venture here.
SAVE THE DATE! We are meeting on October 18th to hear author Tonya Graham McQuade tell of the turbulent times her ancestors endured and the Civil War in Missouri – see details of this free event here.
We’d love to see you – everyone is invited.
Our Civil War Round Table is meeting periodically and growing a bit of momentum, despite suspending regular meetings in 2022. We still possess our nonprofit tax-exempt status and formal recognition from the State of California in hopes of a full resurgence in the future.
