Welcome to the

Civil War Round Table

Alabama Troops At Pensacola, Florida - J. D. Edwards (Library of Congress)

The San Diego Civil War Round Table was established in 1986 and has faithfully provided a welcoming forum for hundreds of its members over the decades to gather, to speculate, to argue, and to appreciate first-class presentations on a wide variety of topics concerning the “late unpleasantness.”

Furthermore, its members have donated many thousands of dollars toward battlefield preservation.

Winners of the Dave Tooley Prize: We are excited that we recently sponsored an essay contest in conjunction with San Diego State University – read about the results and the submittals here.

SAVE THE DATE!  We have a June meeting lined up for the 20th, a show-and-tell for anyone with something to share.  We want to hear from you about anything Civil War; maybe about your ancestors, or perhaps a trip to a Civil War site, or a book you recommend. Come share or listen – see meeting details here!

We’d love to see you – everyone is invited.

Our Civil War Round Table is meeting periodically and growing a bit of momentum, despite suspending regular meetings in 2022. We still possess our nonprofit tax-exempt status and formal recognition from the State of California in hopes of a full resurgence in the future
